Over the past several years, I developed The 5 Signals™, a strategic framework for evaluating organizational alignment, execution readiness, and structural business risk.

The framework grew out of a simple observation: many companies struggle not because they lack talented people, funding, or market opportunities, but because important strategic decisions are made without a clear understanding of how different parts of the business interact. Problems often remain invisible until they become expensive to correct.

The 5 Signals™ was created to help founders and leadership teams think more systematically about these challenges. Rather than focusing on isolated functions such as product, finance, sales, or operations, the framework examines the relationships between them and looks for structural weaknesses before they become operational failures.

Over time, this work evolved into a comprehensive body of research consisting of approximately one thousand pages of notes, models, decision frameworks, case studies, diagnostic tools, and practical guidance. While it was originally developed for startup founders, many of the underlying ideas apply equally to leadership teams, investors, and organizations navigating periods of growth and change.

Today, I consider The 5 Signals™ to be a completed body of work and an important part of my professional thinking. Although I am no longer actively developing it as a standalone product, the principles behind the framework continue to influence the way I approach strategy, organizational design, business analysis, and investment evaluation.

Much of the thinking that now informs my work on DueCap and other advisory engagements has its roots in The 5 Signals™.
